Hi, I’m Tara
I am so excited to be running as your Greens candidate for Cooper and would be honoured to represent you in Federal Parliament.

I’m also proud to be running in Cooper with the chance of being the first trans MP in any Parliament in Australia.
I’m a public school teacher, unionist and renter – and proud to call Cooper home. Our lively arts scene, strong queer community and diversity have made this an incredible place to live. Unfortunately, much of that is under threat.
More people in our community are spending a majority of their income on rents than ever before. We’re paying through the nose for substandard housing to make wealthy property investors even richer.
When it’s easier to buy your 10th home than your first, the system is broken. The Greens have real, viable legislative solutions to these problems – we just need representatives with the courage to act.
The fact is, we can fund the things our community needs if we actually tax the billionaires and big corporations who can afford to pay for it.
We can bring dental and mental health into Medicare and make sure everyone can see the GP for free. We can wipe all student debt and make education genuinely free for all – like it used to be. And we can invest in a massive expansion of cheap, reliable, publicly owned renewable energy.
We’re hearing from voters every week that they’re sick of the major parties and are rolling up their sleeves to send Australia’s first trans MP to Canberra.
It’s clear Labor doesn’t have the will to tackle the massive problems we face – from climate to the cost of living – and the only way to get meaningful and positive change is to put more Greens in the parliament.
Our community knows that we deserve more, and we’re ready to demand it. As your MP, I will fight so that everyone in our community has access to what they need.
We’ll keep Dutton out and get Labor to act. If you want change, vote for it.

The Greens track record
In the balance of power in parliament the Greens have secured:
$13 billion invested in clean energy
$3 billion in extra funding for public and community housing
Dental into Medicare for 3.4 million kids
Secured a national anti-corruption watchdog with teeth
Won the right to disconnect from work, criminalised wage theft
Stopped around half of coal & gas projects in the pipeline
Imagine what we could do with more power after the next election.
